That means ensuring clothes are put away, surfaces are free of clutter and your bed is made just the way you like it. While you might be quite happy to sleep in a messy bedroom, it’s been suggested that tidy spaces improve general wellbeing. So with this is mind why wouldn’t you want to keep your bedroom looking neat? To keep your bedroom tidy, invest in some good quality bedroom storage furniture; chests of drawers and wardrobes come in a variety of sizes and tallboys are a great option for smaller bedrooms.

Calm Colours

Did you know certain colours have a calming effect? Some particular hues are believed to have a calming influence on the senses, so it’s worth keeping this in mind when creating a relaxing bedroom environment. These colours include blue (especially pale and pastel blues), light greens, warm greys, pale pink and of course creams. The obvious suggestion is to paint your walls in a calming colour but if you’re renting you can improvise by choosing appropriately coloured curtains or bedding.

Add Some Plants

Bring a little nature inside to instantly enhance the vibe of your bedroom. According to the Royal Horticultural Society, research suggests that house plants promote wellbeing and improve focus and productivity – so they’re a great addition to your home office too. While indoor plants are not known to create any notable negative side effects, according to studies they have many beneficial qualities and have shown to reduce blood pressure and fatigue, reduce stress levels and improve mood. Many pot plants are very low maintenance so they can be a simple addition to your bedroom – Jade plants in particular are a great option as they require little upkeep and are available in a variety of sizes.

Organise Your Bedside Table

Bedside tables aren’t just handy for keeping a glass of water nearby – they’re an ideal place for keeping your bedtime essentials within reach. Keep selfcare items like aromatherapy candles, hand cream (choose one with soothing essential oils like lavender) and your favourite book on your bedside table as well as any other items you might need during the night. This way you have what you need without having to leave your cosy bed. Choose a bedside table with drawers for handy storage.
