The warm weather is still going strong, so we think there’s no better time to share our top tips for keeping your home cool in Summer. We do like a bit of sunshine at Oak&More but we prefer to keep things cool indoors. If you’re wondering how we do it, read on:
Summer is a great time to switch up the furniture in your home and minimalist styles are a great choice for this time of year. Now is the time to stash away rugs and throws and keep things simple and clutter-free to increase airflow throughout your home. Store your winter blankets and duvets in a Blanket Box or make use of your Sideboard to tidy away any extras you don’t need cluttering your living room or dining area.
Did you know you can make a small bedroom feel bigger using a few simple tricks? Paint the walls, floor and ceiling the same colour to create an illusion of space – be sure to choose lighter colours for this. When shopping for furniture, choose tall and narrow storage furniture such as tallboys or small chests of drawers to conserve space and make use of room under your bed for storing seasonal clothing and items you don’t need immediate access to – you can buy shallow underbed storage specifically made for this.
The key to a minimalist aesthetic is to ensure the space doesn’t contain too much stuff. Decluttering is not only proven to have a positive effect on mental health, but it decreases dust levels in the room, therefore improving overall air quality. Go through your clothes, trinkets, books and more and donate any unwanted items to charity, attend a car boot sale or sell them via a second-hand site online. If you’re going to keep things tidy, you’ll need some decent bedroom storage furniture. Whether you want classic solid oak chests of drawers or an oak and cream painted bedside table with drawers, stylish storage furniture will allow you to keep things tidy and chic. Some of our favourite pieces from Oak&More include the Eclipse Solid Oak Bedside Table (pictured), the Bradwell Oak and Signal White Painted 2 Over 3 Chest of Drawers and the Lawson Solid Oak 5 Drawer Tallboy.
